Full Moons represent a time to regain your balance through a process of elimination. A full Moon in the sign of Capricorn conjoined with Saturn is dead serious, single-minded, and either dealing with authoritarian influences or being an authoritarian influence.

The fixed star “Facies” at 8 degrees of Capricorn, along with Saturn ,conjuncts this full Moon. An astrologer I frequently quote (Bernadette Brady) defines Facies as representing the penetrating stare of the lethal weapon. It is one of the most difficult, and possibly the most violent, objects in the heavens. It gives a penetration of action that has no regard for others. Facies in a chart will indicate that the planet it touches will be very focused and driven. The push to achieve goals and aims may well become ruthless.”

That kind of energy can be used to focus on achieving a very challenging, compassionate, and worthy goal in your life. If you need to dig yourself out of a hole, to organize a complicated system, to disconnect from distractions that “have a hold on you,” or to accomplish anything that requires persistence, focus, dedication, and lots of hard work – this full Moon will be very useful to you.

Every full Moon represents a time when the Sun is exactly opposed to the Moon – a 180 degree angle. We’re dealing with polar opposites and stubborn divisions. This “ruthless” Moon reflects the soft light of the nurturing sign of Cancer.

From her book “Wisdom Rising” Tsultrim Allione describes the Dalai Lama’s reaction to being informed of the sexual misconduct of Western Buddhist teachers. A method of working patiently and compassionately with them so they could understand their motives and change their ways was already underway. After this was described to the Dalai Lama he slammed his fist on the table saying loudly “Compassion is fine, but it has to stop! And those doing this should be exposed.

His compassion came in the form of something fierce, determined, and ruthless. There was nothing wishy-washy about it.

An opportunity for you to say a fierce “no” to something that is destructive and inhumane in your own life is being supported.

The Sun/Moon midpoint in this full Moon chart falls at 6 Degrees of Aries. The midpoint is a point of integration and balance. It gives us clues as to what kind of action is needed to integrate opposites – in this case the Sun(ego) and the Moon (emotions).

The Sabian Symbol for 6 Degrees of Aries – “The emperor’s fool, in cap and bells, sits peacefully under a flowering tree. When he sees his master walking down the street naked, he yells at him to put some clothes on.”

A “fool’s” job is not to normalize craziness. It’s the opposite. Action becomes very potent when you begin to deal with a situation as it is. It takes a clear eye and the direct, honest mind of a child to resist falling into the “false representations of the “ruling elite.” You may have to risk causing a scene to prevent yourself from being absorbed into something insidiously destructive and all-consuming.

When someone shows you who they are through their actions you believe them – the first time. And you call it what it is. A lie is not an alternative fact, an untruth, or a misleading statement. It’s a lie.

I’ve lived with crazy-makers (most of us have) and worked professionally with patients carrying an “official” psychiatric diagnosis. Psychic survival in both environments depends on the ability to keep yourself from buying into delusional realities. You do that by calling out what you see – very directly. Even it seems like something insignificant on the scale of possible “outrages,” you don’t let it slide. You consistently protect and defend what’s real.

When the crazy-maker is a parent, a boss, a judge, or a socially or nationally powerful figure it’s harder. But taking the easy way out is dangerous, especially under a Capricorn full Moon. It can end you up in a place where you don’t know whether your coming or going – and eventually too exhausted to care.

A standard joke on psychiatric units (which I never found too funny because it could be so true) was “How do you tell the difference between a psych professional and a psychiatric patient?” Answer: “The “professionals” are the one’s with the keys.”

If you’ve failed to fiercely resist a delusion, being in possession of “keys” is meaningless. You’re already the prisoner, trapped and powerless, under the control of whoever promotes and benefits from distortions of reality.

The Sabian symbol for 6 Degrees of Capricorn (this full Moon) emphasizes “mind games” and controlling people through psychic attunement to their desires and fears.

But Saturn emphasizes finding your way out of a maze with the help of an accurate map. Most obstacles to progress are the result of faulty inner maps. But “dirty tricksters” are there to take advantage. It’s critical that you maintain your focus on what’s real.

The Moon and Saturn are aligned in a dynamic square with Chiron. Chiron (the wounded healer) has the ability to guide you beyond Saturn’s dark, deceptive wall.

What Chiron currently suggests is being an activist, fighting to redefine a national identity, staying alert to whats happening around you, and putting your own personal stamp on your territory and on society. There are many ways to do this.

The most important thing to remember is that action becomes very potent when you deal with situations exactly as they are. The punishment must fit the crime. Sometimes compassion comes in the form of being fierce, impolite, and calling it as you see it. Causing a scene in the midst of polite (wishy-washy) company is often the most rationally compassionate thing you can do.
