Pisces New Moon Eclipse

New Moon Eclipse, Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at 5:55 PM PST & 8:55 PM EST, at 18 degrees Pisces 56′

Under this Pisces eclipse, there is a dramatic, all-encompassing, universal sea change in progress. We’re swept up in the currents, gathering strength as we relax into the flow, or exhausting ourselves as we attempt, for as long as possible, to swim against the tide.

There is the option to feel yourself overwhelmed as the tide sweeps you away. There is also the option to feel thrilled and hopeful as you catch a wave capable of delivering you into a life that aligns with your dreams. Synchronous events, the right teachers, and powerful infusions of magic coalesce to clarify how the “unwitting masterpiece” that is your past can now serve your future.

For myself I have finally been able to formulate the research question and life-time project that aligns seamlessly with my strengths and passions. That recent revelation answered one of the most perplexing questions I’ve had about my life – “How do any of the vastly different and disjointed life experiences I’ve had fit together?” Where is the common theme that makes any sense of my past? How can I contribute something useful with the mishmash that has resulted from a life time of indulging myself in whatever I loved? Isn’t that what you’re suppose to do? The great mythology expert Joseph Campbell advised it. For the most part I’m a living example of following your bliss. In my practice, I frequently advise that approach, but I was beginning to doubt that it had actually worked for me. Now, in this 11th hour, it seems that it has.

My life mission has been clarified. I’ve inadvertently accumulated the unusual array of skills required to make it happen, but I’m under no illusion about the upcoming year (or years) of concentrated effort, self-discipline, patience, and probably some sacrifice. Still, with a more holistic and integrated understanding of my life, it seems like the easier part.

The last time an eclipse of this magnitude occured at this same degree and sign (18 Pisces) was March of 1997. Looking back, that eclipse, like this one, may have set the stage for you to be able to divide your life into two sections – the time before that eclipse and everything that came after.

Interestingly the next eclipse event is set to occur in two weeks. On March 23rd a full Moon eclipse at 3 degrees of Libra takes place. That coupling occurred in 1997 as well – one eclipse in Pisces, the other immediately following at 3 degrees of Libra. Most likely it symbolized the end of a specific relationship with another or yourself, or the end of an emotional state of imbalance. Looking ahead we may need to end something before we can move, in a freer state, into the future.

The Karmic Sabian symbol for this Pisces new Moon eclipse is “A Gigantic Tent.” A revival through an intensification of emotion is indicated. There is the suggestion of renewed insight into your capacity for putting your world in order, a sudden rebirth of self-confidence and self-esteem, and the need to get organized. Putting first things first ensures that the rest will fall into place.

The Karmic Sabian Symbol for the upcoming full Moon Eclipse in Libra is “The Dawn of a New Day – Everything Changed.” There is new awareness that a sudden change at deep emotional levels has taken place. This is the indication of a fresh start from the bottom up. Adventure awaits and your potential is being cosmically unleashed.

“Finding your place in the family of things” is a phrase that reflects the energy of this eclipse. The poet, Mary Oliver’s Sun (17 degrees of Virgo) opposes this new Moon Eclipse and conjuncts Jupiter’s current placement. Her Chiron at 16 degrees of Gemini (writing) opposes Saturn’s current placement at 16 degrees of Sagittarius. It therefore occupies the “missing leg” position of the T-sqare configuration involving the Sun, Moon, Jupiter, and Saturn. One interpretation – mine – is that her ability to heal through her writings is intensified at this moment in time. Another is that your own writing may be particularly powerful at this time as well.

Lastly, Vesta, the asteroid signifying inner fire and passion falls at 0 degrees of Taurus. Any planet at 0 degrees becomes important. Taurus is about nature, natural cycles, and its ability to trigger a natural re-alignment.

Wild Geese

You do not have to be good
You do not have to walk on your knees
For a hundred miles, through the desert, repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting –
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.
-Mary Oliver
