Horoscopes for the Week of Jan. 6th – Jan. 12th

Mosaic Art = Lynn Chinn

This week I’ll be personalizing Saturday’s Capricorn New Moon for each sign. (Click here to access the New Moon feature article)

For most of 2016 there is an ongoing universal conflict (Saturn in Sagittarius squaring Neptune in Pisces) involving the need to define and discipline while at the same time dissolving and letting go. The push-pull is generating a tremendous amount of energy that can be channeled into creative accomplishment of massive proportions. But it may feel frustrating, undermining, and difficult to manage. Saturn and Neptune are not natural friends. Their ongoing conflict underlies our daily lives for most of 2016. Our challenge is to make room for both kinds of energy and to develop the skills required to combine them into some kind of masterpiece – something that defies definition, breaks the rules, and works beautifully.

Mercury has officially entered its three week retrograde phase at 1 Degree of Aquarius. On Friday Mercury transits back through the sign of Capricorn until January 25th, before stationing direct and re-entering the sign of Aquarius. Mercury in Aquarius represents progressive, innovative thought. Ideas may be ground-breaking in some way. Mercury in Capricorn encourages the self-discipline and persistence necessary to bring those ideas down to earth in practical form.

Jupiter retrogrades in the sign of Virgo on Thursday for a period of four months, turning direct again on May 8th. During this cycle inner growth and expansion is indicated. Finishing your education, mind-expanding travel, seeking the truth, refining philosophies, reviving your social life, and failing relationships is favored.

Mars, newly in the sign of Scorpio through March 6th, is an intensely sexual, suspicious, investigative influence. Initiating healing research, being magnetically drawn to a complicated lover, or initiating a thorough transformation of your professional life are all possibilities. Critical “life and death” transformations are timely.

Thanks for reading and enjoy anticipating these exciting and refreshing new directions.

ARIES (March 21-April 21)
This week the new Capricorn Moon turbo-charges Aries drive for success and accomplish with an opportunity for reconsideration, more intelligent strategizing and intelligent planning. Reconsideration may involve the need to take into consideration family, nurturing, and the care of personal emotional needs. Relationships or separations may be restricting your future outlook in some way. That needs to be taken into consideration between now and January 25th as you chart a new course. Important decisions about your future may be required after January 25th. In the meantime you embark on a four months cycle of self-improvement to advance your skills and techniques. Possibly you rekindle a relationships with a co-worker who inspires you to consider different methods for achieving higher levels of effectiveness and efficiency. Possibly you rekindle a relationship with a part of yourself that already knows how to do that. Between now and mid-May inner growth and expansion advances. Beliefs may significantly change as you make more space within for the expansion of truth and wisdom.

TAURUS (April 21-May 21)
This week the new Moon presents an opportunity to reconsider your emotional needs as you plan for the future. Though simplifying, taking only financial or practical considerations into account as you move toward a defining decision or structure within which your future will unfold is historically unwise. Disempowerment of some kind, probably financial, may be stimulating an imbalance or separation within relationships – or within your relationship with yourself. It’s time to reconsider, whether or not you feel you can afford to, what it is you love – what makes your heart sign, what makes you happy when you consider a meaningful personal vision for the future. Mercury in Capricorn is very powerful now. Decisions you make at this time can have far-reaching long term consequences. From now through January 25th it pays to consider future opportunities from a balanced perspective. Between now and mid-May is an ideal time to improve your level of competence and skill within the realm of artistic self-expression.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21)
This week the Capricorn new Moon initiates a process of cautious reconsideration regarding emotional boundaries, financial stability, and practical strategies for something more workable. A new beginning within the realm of equal contribution, responsibility, trust, and the solidification of an important relationship is possible. Renegotiation, redrawing boundaries, and taking equal responsibility for their enforcement is carefully thought through. Beliefs regarding growth and the future of a partnership may need to end in favor of something more reflective of the real you. Love is actually not all you need. Jupiter turns retrograde tomorrow. This begins a four month cycle of inner growth and expansion in the area of inherited beliefs, security, compassion, success and responsibility. It is a time to attend to an expansive project that has been left undone. It is a time for rekindling your relationship with the part of you that knows how to successfully weaves compassion and flexibility into an intelligently constructed and well-maintained framework for success.

CANCER (June 21-July 21)
The new Moon has the potential to transform your relationship to work and responsibility. Mostly this has to do with eliminating the guilt involved in choosing the type of work you would actually love to do. Decisions for you often involve guilt or the desire to be perfect, to pleasing the family, or live up to another’s idea of what constitutes competence and success. This new Moon may allow you to figure out how to become financially free of those in a position to exact a pound of flesh from you. Figuring out how to negotiate and achieve financial stability without sacrificing you soul and your future is the opportunity of this new Moon. Relationship boundaries may need to be redrawn or renegotiated. Being clear about what you do and do not owe another on every level sets you free. It may be time to rekindle a relationship with someone who expands your mind about future possibilities, sharing responsibility, joint contribution, and clearly defined, structured agreements. Or maybe its time to rekindle a relationship with the part of you that already knows how to do that.

LEO (July 21-Aug 21)
This week the new Moon in your 6th house suggests a realignment of the nature of your responsibilities to better serve your evolving life vision. Financial improvement and success is a big part of this picture. Now is a good time for you to more clearly define the kind of work and habitual behaviors that will most efficiently get you to where you want to be. If you are spending too much time with endeavors that have nothing to do with making incremental progress in the right direction, it may be time to re-focus. This new Moon plants a seed that will eventually blossom, if all goes well, into a seamless connection between the work you do and what it is your soul craves. Your mission may be to reconsider your beliefs about making money and how those relate to love, relationships, joy, and artistic freedom. What kinds of alliances are required for you to secure your financial future? Relationships with competent, hard workers, full of compassion and kindness may need to be revived. Or your relationship with that part of yourself may need to be revived. It’s your mission between now and mid-May.

VIRGO (August 21-September 21)

With this new Moon a seed is planted that may blossom into a new belief about your responsibility toward children, love, and your own personal happiness. Currently those beliefs may have more to do with your family of origin and the past. It’s time for a reconsideration and possibly an update of your approach to work and life. There is the possibility that work and responsibility actually serves to protect you from direct experiences with the raw, untamed, and uncontrollable aspects of life – passionate love, the ever-changing nature of reality, and the unpredictability of life. Your habits may be approaching the limits of what is actually fair, balanced, and healthy for you and those you love. A reconsideration of your responsibilities and motives seems timely this week. Creating some distance between what your life experience has taught you and what a close, influential, family member’s experience taught them continues to be important. It’s time to distinguish and to possibly redraw boundaries.

LIBRA (September 21-October 21)

This week a seed is planted that grows into a new kind of relationship possibility with family, the past, your home and the idea of carrying on some family tradition. That tradition, though maybe not previously appreciated, may relate to freedom from or within relationships. Your past may be filled with independent, eccentric types who chose to go their own way or to create relationships that broke the rules despite the consequences. I think that courage may qualify as a family tradition worth passing on at this time. Maybe you or a family member is struggling with trying to fit into a role that does not suit them, but to do otherwise would subject them to condemnation. Maybe it is your role to encourage the family tradition of having the courage to live an authentic life. That may require a separation from some old belief that frees you to be more supportive. It may be time to reconsider your definition of family responsibility.

SCORPIO (October 21 – November 21)
Endings require the release of some deep attachment and for Scorpio that may feel incredibly painful no matter what the nature of the ending. Sometimes, when viewed objectively it seems small and “for the best” but feels disproportionately painful and overwhelming. For you this may relate to a schedule change, more responsibility, less private, self-indulgent time, a less space, and a smaller world. There may be some reconsideration regarding how much you can handle emotionally. You may need some kind of additional support or financial freedom that is delayed or difficult to arrange. Belief in the growth value of difficult experience prevents you from succumbing to the temptation of thinking of yourself as a helpless victim. That kind of thinking is particularly damaging now. By January 25th the dust settles and you may be more in control. Between now and mid-May is the ideal time to revive a relationship or alliance that helps return you to a more joyful and expansive way of life.

SAGITTARIUS (November 21- December 21)

This week it’s time to plant a practical, self-disciplined, seed that grows into the kind of achievement you dream of. It may be financial success. But it may relate more to the full development of your innate talents and the kind of power you will be able to wield as a result. It may relate to a very personal, practically useful contribution to society. Whatever it is, this new Moon marks the time when you finally get serious. It’s time to take some concrete steps to redesign your style and approach to life to accommodate what you want to achieve. You may need to set aside time, to stick to an intelligently designed schedule, to sign up for a workshop, to invest in something promising, or to revive a relationship with the kind of achiever or leader you wish to be. You may have grown used to something pleasurable and self-indulgent that needs to be restricted in some way. Between now and January 25th is the ideal time to do your research and to get your ducks in order. By the end of January you may be ready to make a decision or to commit. Rearranging your surroundings in a way that nurtures your dream is wise.

CAPRICORN (December 21-January 21)
There is some lag time involved in being a Capricorn. As you outgrow things, as old ways of being lose their “reason for being,” as old interests, alliances, and responsibilities become increasingly meaningless, Capricorns respond slowly to the need for adjustment. Behaviors during your lag time take on a lifeless or insane flavor depending on your point of view. The lights may be on, but nobody’s actually at home. Robotic actions that have no meaningful inner or outer connections continue. So this week it’s time to catch up to yourself. Retrograde Mercury facilitates a review of your current responsibilities. Making room for a rebirth more closely aligned with the person you’ve become involves the engagement of your imagination, creative writing and communication, wit, humor, and a challenge to your mind and beliefs. If you once had a relationship – foreign, political, educational, philosophical or religious – that has died, it may be important to revive it.

AQUARIUS (January 21-February 21)
This week marks the beginning of an ending of some significance. Some back and forth, lack of clear communication, delays in negotiation, decision making, or invisible treachery can be anticipated through January 25th. There may be the need to end the confusion, uncertainty, or escapist tendency that contributes to a depletion of your resources. Concurrently there is an acceleration of the ongoing deep inner healing taking place. Old haunts and vulnerabilities that extend beyond current relationship clarifications may be dissolving – mostly through some concentrated, ongoing effort on your part. Jupiter’s change in direction tomorrow (through May) urges inner expansion related to the establishment of alliances or neurological pathways. If you need to complete some skill development objective, writing project, or an interrupted education, it may be time to get on with it. Now is the time to tie up loose ends and to complete the deep inner healing process. By May your full power will be restored.

PISCES (February 21-March 21)
This new Capricorn Moon opens the door to a commitment to new alliances. Between now and January 25th there is a reconsideration and careful review of what exactly you might need to become a more accomplished artist, musician, poet, or creative-type – and the kind of people you may need to surround yourself with to make that feat easier. After January 25th you may know more specifically exactly what gaps need to be filled for your vision of success to become a reality. You may know what questions to ask and how to quickly recognize a valuable ally. Your beliefs about your future prospects for success may change and grow in a positive direction. Between now and mid-May you may rebalance the scales within relationships. Between now and then inner growth related to your role in relationships and what you need from a partner may be clarified. Within the next four months, rekindling your relationship with the part of yourself that knows how to be more high profile, more social, more open, and relatable is possible. Finding a trusted, knowledgable critic is likely.

    Hi Babe,

This is an excellent astrological web site. Kathleen shared it with me about a year ago and I thought you may like it to. Just save it to your favorites, then it makes it easy to check each Wendesday when she post for the week.
