New Moon in Leo at 14 Degrees August 6th, 2013 at 2:51 PM PDT & 5:51 PM EDT

Today we observe the new Moon in Leo, a time when what makes us happy takes on a new level of importance, particularly as we consider where we’re headed.  Our vision for the future, the extent to which current actions create eventual circumstances we look forward to experiencing, our ability to identify the unique ingredients that, for us, must be included for maximum future enjoyment…these are the major major themes being presented by this New Moon.  (New Moon Chart Insert Below)

This new Moon chart is a spectacular one, full of potential and good fortune, especially if we choose to change our response to current limitations.  Every new moon presents us with the opportunity to begin a powerful new life phase with the energy of the universe in complete cooperation with our intentions.   If you’ve been settling for a future that fails to ignite your passion or blaming others for your failure to create something better,  this is the new moon you’ve been waiting for. If thoughts of your future do not fill your life with the magic of anticipation, now is your chance to change that.

Andy Warhol, a Leo born August 6, 1945 with his natal sun at the exact degree of today’s new moon said “They always say time changes things but actually you have to change things yourself.”  The message of this new Moon centers around recognizing how you’ve been doing things the way you’ve always done them and how this may be interfering with your ability to create an exciting future.

Jupiter in Cancer symbolizes a direction for emotional growth.  Because it falls in the 8th house, exactly opposing a second house Pluto in Capricorn, the process of defining emotional limitations and a direction for growth is complicated.  It’s made easier only as we commit to brutal self honesty regarding what we want, who we may be blaming for not having it, and why we deny ourselves the opportunity to affiliate with those individuals and groups who have the power to assist us in getting where we want to be.  Venus in Virgo in the 10th house of our life direction assists Mars in Cancer in the 8th in finding the courage to be more emotionally direct with ourselves regarding dependency and a tendency to settle for less than we want rather than change.

Saturn, the planet that defines limitation, in this new moon chart, falls in the 11th house of friendship and group associations.  It’s Sabian Symbol, A Gold Rush, highlights opportunity, dramatizes ambition, and emphasizes shaping the future by sacrificing our old ways in exchange for something new.  Releasing comfortably familiar alliances for more effective associations is indicated.   A specific group membership, endowing you with all the privileges, associations, and benefits that come with it, in exchange for the release of comfortable but unproductive old alliances would appear to be an especially timely and effective strategy now.   Initiating group membership over the next two weeks could be especially powerful.

The Sabian symbol for the new moon chart’s Ascendent at 4 degrees Sagittarius is A Child Learning to Walk.  The symbol implies gaining a new level of independence through mastering new skills such as learning to speak another language, higher education, certifications, and taking advantage of valuable opportunities that increase experience levels.

Pluto in Capricorn in the 2nd house points to both strength and rigidity in the area of life that defines the resources and talents we have available as we consider shaping the future.  Interestingly Pluto’s Sabian Symbol, An Albatross Feeding From the Hand,  suggests that we loosen our grip on what we have, cast our bread upon the waters, and indulging in a type of generosity that helps us reorder priorities, giving ourselves the opportunity to gain a new perspective on how give and take and helping others plays into creating a joyful future for ourselves.

Uranus in Aries in the 5th house of happiness aligns harmoniously with this new Moon in the 9th house of future and freedom.    The aspect between Uranus and the Moon removes the roadblocks that stand between your future and the amount of magic you experience now, in anticipation of it, as well as the amount of actual enjoyment it will eventually be able to provide for you.  The Sabian Symbol for this new Moon, A Pageant, emphasizes the joy that comes from contributing a part of yourself for the common good.  The Sabian Symbol for Uranus is An Unsuccessful Bomb Explosion  implies the need for being patient and thorough.  Going over your plans for you future repeatedly, being honest about where your headed, working and reworking strategies for effectiveness,  being thorough,  and continually evaluating your future’s potential for stimulating within you the magic of anticipation is the message of this new Moon.
